Brazil’s beef industry must increase transparency across the supply chain, offering better visibility into the origins of its cattle and, most important, ensuring that production is not linked to deforestation. A deforestation and conversion-free (DCF) business model or Brazil’s cattle industry is not only financially and technically feasible from a land-use perspective, but will also create greater value for companies, ranchers and investors compared with the wasteful approach of forest clearing and the associated risks.
